Safety
Is Soulair safe?
Most sessions are slow, gentle breathing. Sessions with fast breathing or long breath holds are marked, and show a short safety note the first time you open one. Fast breathing and holds change your body's chemistry; tingling, warmth and lightness are normal. Go only as far as feels comfortable. You can stop at any time and breathe normally.
Who should not do this kind of breathwork?
Skip fast-breathing and breath-hold sessions if you are pregnant or have epilepsy.
Check with your doctor first, and skip those sessions until you have, if you:
- have a heart or lung condition;
- have high blood pressure;
- have had recent surgery;
- have glaucoma or a history of fainting;
- are under 18.
If you are not sure, ask your doctor first. The slow, calm sessions are gentler, but the same rule applies if something does not feel right.
Where and when should I practise?
Sitting or lying down somewhere safe. Never while driving, never in or near water (bath, pool, sea).
I feel dizzy or unwell.
Stop, breathe normally, and rest until it passes. If it does not pass, or you are worried, get medical help.
I am in crisis.
Soulair is breathwork. It is not therapy or medical care. If you are thinking of harming yourself, or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number now. Reaching out to someone you trust is always a good first step. The same information is in the app at You > Safety & resources.
The full safety note is on the Safety page. Questions about your own situation belong with your doctor. Privacy policy and terms are published with the app's release.
